Rosanna Arquette to receive Indie Star Award at the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland

Rosanna Arquette, a renowned actress, will be the special guest at the upcoming 8th edition of the American Film Festival. A Golden Globe and Emmy nominee, this BAFTA awarded American film star is coming to Wroclaw to receive the Indie Star Award on October 24th at the Festival opening gala.

Rosanna Arquette was born to a family with several generations of acting tradition. Her grandfather, her father, and all of her siblings starred in front of the camera. She appeared in the works of such film magicians as John Sayles, Martin Scorsese, Luc Besson, or Quentin Tarantino. To celebrate the occasion of honoring the actress with the Indie Star Award, three pictures starring Rosanna Arquette will be screened during the 8th AFF.

This is going to be the opening night for Magdalena Zyzak and Zachary Cotlera’s directorial debut, Maya Dardel, an intimate story of a renowned writer who plans on committing suicide (Lena Olin) and on that occasion organizes an erotically intended competition for young male would-be poets. Arquette appears in this picture as the mysterious neighbor of the heroine. On the premiere night in Wroclaw, Arquette will be accompanied by both directors, as well as Polish and American producers (Apple Film Production and Greyshack Films).

The Festival will also give us the opportunity to see the most awarded of Arquette’s creations. Her appearance next to Madonna in Susan Seidelman’s Desperately Seeking Susan which gave the actress a Golden Globe nomination and BAFTA Award. Her second nomination for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award came with her role in Martin Scorsese’s After Hours that will be screened during this year’s edition of the AFF.

In her special masterclass, Arquette is going to talk about her career, favorite movies, and social involvement — privately, the actress is an active advocate of breast cancer prevention.
