Rosanna Arquette opens the Winter Cinema with a Unique screening on ice: Projection on a 6000 tons Ice Screen

Stockholm Internatinonal Film Festival is arranging a Winter Cinema at an ice screen in Kungsträdgården, during the weekend November 9-10. The actress Rosanna Arquette opens the Winter Cinema, November 9th at 4:00 pm, as the sun sets over Stockholm. The event is free with the purpose of screening quality cinema to the wider audience. – Ten years ago, we created an unforgettable moment for the Stockholmers when Susan Sarandon visited the festival and opened the world’s first ice screen at our 20th Anniversary. This year, we treat everyone on a sparkling cinematic experience, and my only worry is that the ice screen will melt because of all cinema-love that will be spread by the audience in Kungsträdgården, says Git Scheynius, Festival Director at Stockholm Film Festival.

November 9-10 the fountain in Kungsträdgården will transform into a movie theatre with lined up benches that the public can enjoy the screenings on. The films that will be screened is After Hours (1985) and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). The audience is encouraged to bring warm clothes and blankets to sit on.

The 6 000 tons heavy blocks of ice have been transported 1227 miles, from Tornälven in Jukkasjärvi. The construction of the ice screen starts November 9th, 5:00 am.

Dates and time schedule for the Winter Cinema:

Saturday, November 9th at 4:00 pm
After Hours (1985) Rosanna Arquette opens the ice screen

Sunday, November 10th at 4:00 pm
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Rosanna Arquette receives the Stockholm Achievement Award 2019

Rosanna Arquette is visiting Stockholm to accept the Stockholm Achievement Award 2019 at Skandia, at the screening of Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) with Rosanna Arquette and Madonna in the leading roles.

Rosanna Arquette has appeared in over 70 films and worked with directors like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Luc Besson, Woody Allen and David Cronenberg. She was awarded a BAFTA for her star-making performance opposite Madonna in Susan Seidelman’s, Desperately Seeking Susan (1985). She has also done unforgettable roles in After Hours (1985), The Big Blue (1988), New York Stories (1989), Pulp Fiction (1994) and Crash (1996).

The Winter Cinema is a collaboration between Stockholm Film Festival and ICEHOTEL that’s building the ice screening.
