Robert Redford, Marilyn Monroe and Pussy Riot challenge power in this year's Spotlight

23rd Annual Stockholm International Film Festival will have Spotlight: Power. With twelve films that pose uncomfortable questions and in different ways challenge power and authority, we discuss both at screenings and in seminars the shapes of power within politics as well as within art and relationships.

What do Pussy Riot and Robert Redford have in common? They are both in this year's Spotlight Section that turns its focus on power, in all its forms. Robert Redford both directed and star in ”The Company You Keep” a film about an American antiwar-activist who after a long life under an assumed identity finds himself pursued again by a stubborn journalist, played by Shia LaBeouf. In ”Tomorrow” we follow the actions of the art activists from the Vojna-resistance movement, the movement that birthed Pussy Riot. In the ”The Perverts Guide to Ideology” the philosopher Slavoj Zizek takes on ideology and discusses everything from politcial uprising to terrorism and what ideology can make one do. ”Love Marilyn” gives an insight in the mind-set of one of the most iconic people in film history, Marilyn Monroe, and about what it is like to be a lone woman in the male dominated world of cinema.
