Quality and quirky movie experiences on offer at Eastleigh Film FestivalEastleigh Film Festival is back for 2021, bringing a full week’s schedule of screenings to unique and unusual locations across the Borough. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 13th August for the festival line-up from Monday 13th – Saturday 18th September. Following last year’s drive-in cinema at Itchen Valley Country Park, the festival heads into the dark, dark woods for immersive scary screenings of A Quiet Place 2 and The Descent. Bring your own blanket, chair and torch – and a hand to hold to get you through! New locations for this year include Barton Peveril College and Crestwood School, which will be showing American high school classic The Breakfast Club and Bo Burnham’s brilliant Eighth Grade. Get ready for a 1980s white wedding celebration and buffet with The Wedding Singer at the Concorde Club! Experience 2021 Academy Award-winners Nomadland and Sound of Metal the way they were meant to be seen on the big screen at The Point, which will also host the festival’s opening night, featuring a once-in-a-lifetime concert event with Mick Fleetwood and Friends recorded live at the London Palladium in 2020. The Film Festival is put together by the team at The Point, which is operated by Eastleigh Borough Council. Charlotte Hall, Creative Director at The Point Eastleigh, said: “I’m so pleased that Eastleigh Film Festival is back with an exciting programme of events for 2021, all thoughtfully handpicked and matched with quirky settings to provide unique experience for audiences. “This week of events will take audiences from the dancefloor one night to the woods on another, all in the name of watching and celebrating brilliant film!” Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy, Councillor Derek Pretty, said: “The Eastleigh Film Festival has become firmly established in the region’s events calendar and the policy of hosting screenings in unexpected venues means that Borough businesses and other organisations have become involved – and have welcomed new audiences through their doors. I’m sure we can look forward to another sell-out event.”
