Producers on the Move three-day event in Cannes for young European producers

This year's three-day event for young European producers, PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE, will present 25 talented film producers from 25 European countries. This includes Radim Procházka as the "Czech producer on the move". The event, organised by European Film Promotion, will take place during the festival in Cannes on 14 - 17 May 2011. This will be the largest number of participants in the history of this programme, which began 12 years ago.

This year Radim Procházka from RADIM PROCHÁZKA PRODUKCE was chosen for the Czech Republic. Even though he studied documentary film at the Film and Television Faculty, this up-and-coming producer has already produced several feature film projects which have received many film nominations and awards. He received both a Czech Lion Award and the Film Critics Award for his feature debut Rules of Lying and last year's film The Greatest Czechs. He is currently preparing a project with documentarist Karel Vachek, Play Brecht!, and a historical drama under the direction of Robert Sedláček, Fagus.

"What do I expect from my participation in Producers on the Move? To run up against similar-minded colleagues from other European countries with whom I could cooperate. The expensive historical film Fagus, which I am coming to Cannes to present, cannot be financed from domestic sources alone," Radim Procházka stated, describing his expectations.

The Producers on the Move program is financially supported from the MEDIA programme of the European Union and members of European Film Promotion. The Czech Film Center has been representing the Czech Republic as a member of EFP since 2002.  The initiative offers participants at the largest international festival and film market in Cannes a unique opportunity to make contacts with colleagues from other European countries, meet with the representatives of film funds and learn more of the conditions for creating films within Europe. They will be able to discuss their ideas as well as the planning and financing of international projects and explore the potential for possible co-productions.

The previous Producers on the Move from the Czech Republic include Pavel Strnad (Negativ), Karla Stojáková (Axmann production), Vratislav Šlajer (Bionaut) and Monika Kristlová (Dawson). You can find the entire list on the following web pages: http://www.efp-online.com/.
