Prizes & Party for young film professionals at Talent Campus

Berlinale Talent Campus
Prizes & Party for young film professionals

"Cinema is opening the door to the world, cinema is thinking collectively. The Berlinale Talent Campus is a collective endeavour and I am proud to be part of it" said Walter Salles about his involvement as host in the Berlinale Talent Campus which, with more than 60 events, took place at the Berlin House of World Cultures from 12th to 17th February. The third Talent Campus concluded yesterday with a festive awards ceremony and a big farewell party. Winner of the Volkswagen Score Competition is Ognjan Milosevic; and in a vote, the 530 talents named Sainath Choudhury's film Cataract as Talent Movie of the Week.

During the workshops, talks and discussions throughout the 6 days of Campus, 530 talents from 90 different countries were given the opportunity to get into conversation with 80 internationally renowned experts from the world of film amongst them Catherine Breillat, Emi Wada, Christopher Doyle, Roland Emmerich, Dante Ferretti, Mike Figgis, Stephen Frears, Walter Salles, Ridley Scott, Asano Tadanobu and Wim Wenders.

You won't find the same level of motivation anywhere else– is how Linda Kornemann, producer from Berlin and participant of this year's Campus sums up her experience.

Ognjan Milosevic winner of the Volkswagen Score Competition The participants had to provide a soundtrack for three film extracts: The Volkswagen Score Competition for young sound designers and composers at the Berlinale Talent Campus was won by Ognjan Milosevic from Yugoslavia. His prize is a trip to the best studios in Los Angeles, sponsored by Dolby. Christiane Krebs-Hartmann from Volkswagen presented the winner with his certificate. In the jury: Antonio Pinto, Martin Todsharow, Bernd Wefelmeyer, Walter Salles and Mike Figgis.

Cataract by Sainath Choudhury is Talent Movie of the Week Shooting a movie, editing it and celebrating its première - all in one week! Four film teams took on this challenge during the Berlinale Talent Campus. Four young directorial talents had been chosen to produce a complete digital short film during Campus. The Campus participants voted Cataract as their Talent Movie of the Week: An enigmatic man enters a lonely petrol station at night. The cashier is skeptical but there is something about this man which captivates her. Together they embark on a fantastic journey of discovery with an abrupt end... Director and producer Walter Salles (Centro do Brazil; City of God) acted as mentor for the film teams and Berlin film production company sabotage films produced the films.
