Pascal Vicedomini: Producer of the Capri Festival

The idea of Capri, Hollywood, a great festival of the Italian cinema that would attract world-wide stars to the beloved Isle of Capri, was born in the summer of 1995.
The ambitious event sought to open the Italian artistic community to the innovations and enthusiasm of the leaders of world-wide filmmaking, brought together by the leaders of this initiative who foresaw the potential of Capri, Hollywood.
From this birth of Capri in the World Institute, there followed a search for films, artists and industry leaders who would agree to bring their talents and personalities to the festival. In barely a year’s time, an idea was transformed into a world class event as legends of the cinema arrived on the Blue Island in the heart of winter to celebrate great films and the magic of Capri.
Now, ten years later, a long road has been traveled thanks to the friends of the Institute, the people of Capri, and above all, the great national institutions that have supported Capri, Hollywood: The Ministry of Cultural Assets, Cinecittà Holding, RAI, the Campania Regioin and the Chamber of Commerce of Naples.
Today, Capri, Hollywood is beyond the shadow of a doubt the most visible Italian cinema event in the world except for the Venice Film Festival (with its far larger budget). Its objective is to combine the fascination of the Island with the opportunity both to learn and be entertained that is made possible by the institutions, public and private, that support this event on the island discovered for the elite two millennia ago by Tiberio.
The distance is still long and challenging, but the force of Capri is irresistible. Sooner or later, all will bow to the reality of the myth that has come down through the centuries--that every kind of politician, intellectual and star must come here to be truly human. The myth blends perfectly with the "seventh art" that has inspired so many films on Capri. Hail to Capri, hail to the cinema!
