Once in a lifetime Matt Dillon's soccer docu opens Ischia Global Fest

“ONCE IN A LIFETIME,” A SOCCER DOCUMENTARY NARRATED BY MATT DILLON, OPENS ISCHIA GLOBAL FEST 2006 ON TUESDAY, JULY 11; FIRST OF 43 FILMS TO BE SCREENED, INCLUDING 12 PREVIEWS

The incredible history of the New York Cosmos soccer team, narrated by Matt Dillon in the documentary by Paul Crowder, will inaugurate the 4th Ischia Global Film & Music Fest on Tuesday, July 11. The Cosmos of three decades ago assembled an international array of all-stars such as Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff, Carlos Alberto and George Chinaglia into the best and most famous U.S. club team. The film was produced by Greene Street Films and is being distributed worldwide by ESPN, the preeminent American cable television sports company. The screening comes just two days after the soccer frenzy of Italy’s participation in the World Cup championship game in Berlin.

The program of previews gathered by the Ischia International Academy of Art will offer a special window into German cinematography with screenings of two fresh films, 3° KALTER by Florian Hoffmeister and SOMMER VORM BALKON by Andreas Dresen, both thanks to the contribution of German Films, Rome.

Among the other titles to be presented are: The GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED by Bill Paxton, GLORY ROAD by James Gartner (distributed by Buena Vista); The FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT by Justin Lin (distribution UIP), SHADOW BOXER by Lee Daniels (distribution Videa-Warner Bros); DOMINO by Tony Scott (distribution Eagles Pictures), and THE COLOR OF CRIME by Joe Roth (distribution SONY Pictures).

Other independent titles include KETTLE OF FISH by Claudia Myers; SHOOTING DOGS by Michael Caton Jones, and NACHI LOBRE by Jared Hess.

Special screenings on the beach of the Regina Isabella Hotel include CRASH, with its Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis present in person; the classic THE BLUES BROTHERS in honor of John Landis, KANSAS CITY by Robert Altman in honor of Harry Belafonte, and TIDELAND by Terry Gilliam, produced by Global Fest guest Jeremy Thomas.

Two Italian comedies, VITA SMERALDA by Gery Calà and AGENTE MATRIMONIALE by Cristian Visceglia and produced by Eleonora Giorni, also are part of the rich program of screenings that are free of charge at the Regina Isabella and theatres in Forio and Ischia Porto.
