The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (NYIIFVF) proudly announces its return to its hometown Manhattan for eight days of film screenings, world premieres, industry panels and after-parties. The festival, known as "the voice of independent film," will showcase over 200 international and domestic feature films, shorts, documentaries and animations. The festivities kick off on November 9th with a networking party for filmmakers and artists at West Chelsea hotspot Crobar. Film screenings run from November 10th-16th exclusively at City Cinemas Village East.

NYIIFVF, passionate about exposing films and documentaries of emerging filmmakers from all over the globe, is “the place to have your projects seen and reviewed by the best of the best,” comments Editor Dave Sardella (Micro Cinema Magazine). “This world-renowned festival can be the launching pad to a successful career for aspiring directors, producers, and musicians.” As always, the scope of the festival ranges from high profile to novice, so viewers experience an array of films driven by the passion of independent movie-making.

Highlights in this year’s Fall/Winter line-up include:

Heart to Heart -. Documentary. Directed by Brian Gordon. A young girl’s heart is failing and will die soon. Doctors implant a device rarely allowed in the United States. After 6 months in the hospital, we learn her fate. Film is hosted and narrated by Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy).

Animal People - the humane movement in America. Documentary.
Directed by Gary Kaskel. Animal People is a history and overview of the animal protection movement in America. While the modern animal protection movement has it roots in the Victorian era, concern for the welfare of animals goes back centuries. Animal advocacy spans a wide philosophical spectrum, and this documentary examines the major players in the animal protection movement past and present.
Among those interviewed are Peter Singer, Tom Regan, Ingrid Newkirk, Tippi Hedren and many others.

Out of Ali's Shadow: The Larry Holmes Story -Documentary.
Directed by Evan Grant. Larry Holmes is undeniably one of the greatest champions
in heavyweight history. Yet despite his accomplishments, Holmes never managed to escape the presence of the beloved Muhammad Ali. This documentary sheds light upon the man and brings the legacy of Holmes “Out From Ali’shadow.”

Mad Bad -. Action/Drama. East Coast Premiere. Directed by Jon Keeyes. An ex-con attempts to rebuild his life, but is drawn into the same circumstances that led to his demise starring Vincent Riverside (who was in HOLD ON with Melissa Joan Hart & Danny Masterson) and is directed by Jon Keeyes who just completed the film Living and Dying starring Edward Furlong, Michael Madsen and Bai Ling. Collective Soul contributed to the original soundtrack. Winner of Grand Jury Prize, Best Feature at NYIIFVF in LA.

The Guardians. Family Action – Comedy. Directed by Chris Hummel. Local Pop group, TGK’s, dreams are shattered and their
town turned into chaos when a techno savvy con artist, Dr. Strangling blows
into town bent on taking them for all their worth but with the help of brilliant
and equally techno savvy, Professor Walker, the kids are able to turn the tables
on the con artist, save the town and still make their pop dreams come true.
Starring: Ron Palillo ( formerly Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter), TGK, Bad
Boy recording artists B5, Laguna Beach's Alex Murrel , Analyze This' Kyle Sabihy,

Rapturious - Horror. Directed by Kamal Ahmed (formerly
of The Jerky Boys).Self-destructive rapper believes demonic entities are after
him. The follow-up to God Has A Rap Sheet by Award Winning Director and Former
Jerky Boy Kamal Ahmed. Starring: Debbie Rochon, Cinque Lee (Spike Lee’s
brother) and Kamal Ahmed. (Thursday, November 16th at 8:00pm, Screen 7)

F8 (Fate). Thriller. Directed by Ian Truitner. After
a fatal accident a bizarre twist of FATE brings a troubled young man face to
face with his victim. Starring Clayne Crawford (E! Hot in Hollywood List, Swimfan,
A Love Song For Bobby Long), Diego Serrano (Another World, The Valley of the
Wolves: Irag), Rob Kirkland (The ID and Bob, When A Telemarketer Calls), Lindsey
Labrum (Small Town X, Potheads), Sala Baker (The Lord of the Rings).

Brothers - Drama. Award-winning dramatic short by
Italian filmmaker and former prolific theater director Fernando Scarpa. Josh,
expertly played by Rob Alicea, always looked up to his older and devious brother,
Gino (Chris Keogh), when they were children growing up in Italy. Now in America,
the brothers have taken opposite paths, with formerly-naughty kid Gino becoming
a priest while Josh lives a life of luxury. When Josh’s posh penthouse
is robbed, the trail leads Detective Garza (Connie James) to Father Gino, sending
Josh on an unexpected journey toward a brother he only thinks he knows.

Shooting Henry Hill - Crime/social documentary. Directed by Luke Heppner. Filmmakers find themselves in the middle of an organized crime investigation when they discover wise guy Henry Hill in a small Nebraska town.
Twenty-five years after testifying against his mafia associates and entering the Federal Witness Protection Program, Henry's life is very different from the glamorized lifestyle portrayed in Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas.

El Barrio - Documentary. Directed by Melissa Eidson.
This gritty documentary focuses on Mexico City's "hot" centric zone as seen through the eyes of the people who live there. Using a hand-held Mini DV camera, the documentary captures life in the hood and contains illuminating and entertaining interviews from over 20 likable characters, who offer tips about survival and recount stories about life on the run. (Sunday, November 12th at 6:10pm, Screen 6)

Daddy's Girl - Drama. Directed by Dennis King. "Daddy's Girl" is a story of a father struggling to raise his daughter alone when along comes Becky, a girl from a troubled home and dark secrets.

Post-screening parties will be organized by dynamic party-planning company, Rula PR and will be held each night at various upscale lounges and clubs from 10pm-1am. All after-parties will have a strict dress code and are 21 and over.
