March 8th HD EXPO

March 8th HD EXPO features David Wertheimer, Jim Matlosz, Josh Greer, Pierre de Lespinois,Terry Brown and more industry leaders
February 15, 2007 (Burbank, CA) What’s in store for the production and creative communities as new tools and technologies come to market and evolve? The future is just one of the provocative questions that industry leaders will be addressed during HD EXPO in a variety of forums, panels and intensives, coming up at the Beverly Hilton on March 8th.

“Progress, Predictions and Challenges,” moderated by David Westheimer, Executive Director of the Entertainment Technology Center at USC, will feature executives from new media and content creators, Curtis Clark, ASC, Chairman of the American Society of Cinematographers Technology Committee, and facility experts including Terry Brown, CTO/Creative Services at Technicolor and Craig German, VP Program Management, Digital Service, Ascent Media Group. The panel will share their insights into the past and the future of revolutionary and every-day technologies.
Taking a technical and creative look at projects with pioneering production pathways, post production and display technologies, “Loud and Proud In Public” public space filmmaker David Vassar, museum installation manager Tony Mitchell, and RealD founder and 3D visionary Josh Greer talk about innovative projects that aren’t limited to theatrical venues, push the limits of display and play to gigantic global audiences.
Cameras and imaging technologies continue to make headlines and alter tools used by cinematographers, especially in the area of High Speed Cameras. DP Mark Centkowski guides a panel of cinematographers and directors in a discussion of application, products, promise and advice. Panelists include the Emmy Award winning™ Director-DP Pierre de Lespinois, DP Jim Matlosz, a respected DP-Director with hot spot credits (Nike, Sony, MGM Mirage) for top agencies and production companies (Digital Kitchen, Weiden/Kennedy, Vitamin, Traktor and Ka-Chew.) Ken Bunder rounds out the panel.
HD EXPO is known for its delivery of top-flight educational offerings and the March 8th will feature Intensive Workshops from Adobe and from Apple. Apple presents “From HD-iPOD, New Workflows for HD” which will illuminate the path from Final cut Pro HD input through cover compression, pod-casts, RSS, iPod video, and finally the workflow from iPod to plasma. The Apple Intensive is offered twice on March 8th.
Premiere Pro expert and Digital Workflow Specialist Jacob Rosenberg will guide participants through an Adobe Intensive Workshop, “Best Practices for your Digital Workflow” which will address a topics such as direct to disk, HD2-DV-HDV-P2 footage, working with green screens, flash encoding and advice about working with clients. Rosenberg is a recognized expert and creative collaborator on a number of well-known projects.
March 8th exhibitors include the industry’s top manufacturers, technology companies and organizations. They include Panasonic, Avid, Canon, JVC, K56l00, Matrox Video, 1Beyond, AJA, Apple, Blackmagic, Fujinon, American Cinematographer, American Cinema Editors, Channel Wolves and many others. INSIDER’S PREVIEW will offer a Pre-NAB look and product premiers from select companies. INSIDER’S PREVIEW presents a unique opportunity for close interaction with product experts before NAB in April.
Kristin Petrovich, CEO of HD EXPO, noted that the theme of March 8th expo is DELIVERING THE FUTURE. “This show has been designed as a thought provoking look at what is going on and what will be going on in the use of the newest tools. This HD EXPO, more than any other, will offer controversial opinions and lively discussions of the future and products. Our goal is, and always has been, to create a vibrant community of experts and users to sort through the complex issues.” Registration for HD EXPO, open now, is free until March 6, 2007. The Apple and Abode Intensives are fee-based education offerings.
