Machinima community to feed BitfIlm's feature film project "Money & Me"

Machinima-Filmmakers from around the world may contribute frame story ideas for the feature film Money & Me
- Submissions of ideas for the frame story until April 30, 2010

- Submissions of short films about Money until July 31, 2010

- Presentation of the films selected by the audience in November 2010

- Premiere of the feature film Money & Me in early 2011

Hamburg based Bitfilm Networks is calling for ideas for the frame story of its feature film Money & Me. This full-length film about Money will be created from various short films, united by a single frame narrative, and produced by Bitfilm Networks with the help of the international Machinima community.

This frame story, which takes place in the financial scenes of Singapore and London, will make up about 20% of the whole film. The rest will be composed of short films of the most diverse techniques and genres on the given topic Money & Me. Film-makers from around the world may submit their films over the Internet. The audience of the Bitfilm Festival will select the ingredients of the final feature film via an online vote.

What is Machinima?

The frame story will be shot in Machinima. This artificial word made up of Machine, Animation and Cinema describes films that are being staged in computer games or virtual worlds such as Second Life. As opposed to classical animation, which works on a frame-by-frame basis, Machinima characters are moved in real time. Money & Me will be shot inside the virtual world Twinity.com, modelled after the cities of Singapore, London and Berlin.

„We have been following the Machinima scene for many years now", says Bitfilm‘s director Aaron Koenig. „This rather small group of gamers, who started to shoot movies instead of monsters, has developed into a worldwide creative movement. We think that Machinima has become an art form in its own right."

The Machinima-based frame story and the short films selected by the Bitfilm audience will form the full-length feature film Money & Me, due for theatrical release in 2011.
