London Fest Grierson Documentary Award Announced

The winner of the annual Grierson Award, given to the best feature-length documentary at the Festival, has now been announced. Lauren Greenfield's Thin, about a Florida eating disorder treatment centre, has been given this honour. The Grierson Award will be presented at Thursday's screening - book now to see this powerful and important film.

This Friday sees the first of our events being held to celebrate our 50th anniversary - A Portrait of London in Trafalgar Square. We've just announced the filmmakers who will be working with Mike Figgis to make this unique and exciting event happen so take a look at the latest news.

Today, the Festival screens Lukas Moodysson's surreally dark Container and Nanni Moretti's The Caiman, a political satire of Berlusconi's premiership, so come on down to the Odeon West End before the Film on the Square Gala Shortbus, which is sure to be controversial.

Meanwhile, the NFT hosts the newly restored David Lean classic Great Expectations and the challenging A Soap, about a pre-op transsexual who dreams of a different life through soap operas. There is also another chance to see Drama/Mex, an atmospheric portrayal of Acapulco's sexual tourism industry.
