André Dudemaine will give the Key Note speech tomorrow at the Festival Academy workshop being held in Montreal this week as part of the Festival TransAmériques activities. This training and exchange session, held annually in a different country, brings together young emerging arts festival directors from around the world.
André Dudemaine, one of the co-founders of the organization Land InSights, has been directing the Montreal First Peoples Festival for 32 years.
On Friday, following the screening of the film Innu Nikamu: Chanter la résistance, Sylvain Vollant of Maliotenam and André Dudemaine will discuss with participants the social function of artistic events and the necessary resilience that rooted festivals must demonstrate in order to remain in place and fully fulfill their mandate.

Montréal, le 31 mai 2022. André Dudemaine fera demain le discours d’ouverture de l’atelier Festival Academy qui se tient à Montréal cette semaine dans la foulée des activités du Festival TransAmériques. Cette session de formation et d’échange, tenue annuellement dans un pays différent, réunit de jeunes directeurs de festival artistiques émergents venus de divers pays du monde.
André Dudemaine, un des cofondateurs de l’organisme Terres en vues, dirige depuis 32 ans le Festival international Présence autochtone de Montréal.
Vendredi, à la suite de la projection du film Innu Nikamu: Chanter la résistance, Sylvain Vollant de Maliotenam et André Dudemaine échangeront avec les participants sur la fonction sociale des événements artistiques et sur la nécessaire résilience dont les festivals enracinés doivent faire preuve pour se maintenir en place et remplir pleinement leur mandat.
