Göteborg Film Festival announces the recipient of the 2025 Honorary Dragon Award: Julie Delpy. The acclaimed filmmaker and actor will attend the festival to accept the prestigious award, participate in a talk, and present her new film, Meet the Barbarians. The festival will also feature a retrospective showcasing some of Delpy’s most beloved films.

Over four decades, Julie Delpy has established herself as one of the most versatile and groundbreaking voices in international cinema. From her early success as an actor in Three Colours: White and Before Sunrise,  to her work as a director and writer of films like 2 Days in Paris and Lolo, her cosmopolitan sensibility has become synonymous with intelligent and deeply personal explorations of human relationships.

“Julie Delpy is a unique voice in the world of film. Her work blends humor, depth, and sensitivity in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide. She is a trailblazer and an inspiration–we are truly proud to honor her with this year’s Honorary Dragon Award,” says Pia Lundberg, Artistic Director of the Göteborg Film Festival.

During the festival, Julie Delpy will participate in a stage talk and present the premiere of her new film, Meet the Barbarians, which she directed, wrote, and stars in. The festival will also celebrate Delpy’s cinematic achievements with a retrospective featuring some of her most iconic works: Three Colours: White (1994), Before Sunrise (1995, part one of the Before-trilogy), 2 Days in Paris (2007), and Lolo (2015).

Julie Delpy will accept the Honorary Dragon Award during the premiere of Meet the Barbarians at Cinema Draken on January 29. The screening will be followed by an exclusive Q&A session with the audience.

Göteborg Film Festival 2025 takes place from January 24 to February 2, 2025.
