John C. Reilly and Philippe Parreno to attend the Festival del film Locarno

On Saturday 7 August, Locarno's Piazza Grande will stage the European premiere of Cyrus by Jay and Mark Duplass (The Puffy Chair, Baghead).

This comedy about love and family set in contemporary Los Angeles stars John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill, Marisa Tomei and Catherine Keener, and is produced by Michael Costigan and executive produced by Tony and Ridley Scott. The Piazza Grande screening will be attended by John C. Reilly and the filmmakers.

The 63rd Locarno Festival will also pay special tribute to John C. Reilly, who has showcased his talent in films by Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia), Martin Scorsese (The Aviator, Gangs of New York) and in Judd Apatow's productions (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Step Brothers).

The Piazza Grande will also feature a presentation of the first few images of The Invisible Boy, a feature-film project by French artist Philippe Parreno accompanied by a selection of his short films and a screening of his film Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, a feature film produced in collaboration with Douglas Gordon (2006).

The 63rd edition of the Festival del film Locarno will take place 4 - 14 August, 2010.

The official line-up will be announced on 14 July.

Commentary - Cyrus and John C. Reilly Q & A

http://tinseltine.com/

John C. Reilly plays John, a guy in his 40’s who is just mediocre; he even describes himself as Shrek, which is so on target.  And as Shrek found his Fiona, John finds Molly (Marisa Tomei) and although Molly stays a sexy, adorable “princess”, not an “ogre” underneath, there’s still wonderful chemistry between them. Really, even to the point where you could actually picture John C. Reilly and Marisa Tomei being together in real life.  But come to think of it, she also had good chemistry with Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, so I suppose one day she’ll be honored for her body of work, and they’ll say, she showed an amazing talent for portraying women turned on by cartoon-faced men...  To READ THE FULL REVIEW and Q & A with John C. Reilly visit Tinsel & Tine
