Highlights from The first annual Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival

INAUGURAL HOLLYWOOD COMEDY SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTED BY BITPIX TO KICK OFF WITH NEW PROJECTS FROM FORMER VEEP DIRECTOR/PRODUCER STEPHANIE LAING AND HBO’S PROJECT GREENLIGHT FINALIST ADRIANO VALENTINI

The first annual Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival (HCSFF) presented by BITPIX is set for sail April 15-16 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood and today the festival’s organizers are unveiling the official selections for the first-ever event. 80 short comedy films will be showcased at the upcoming 2-day celebration of content creators.

The festival kicks off with a Red Carpet celebration for the filmmakers on Friday April 15 at 7pm with 3 programs at the TCL Chinese Theater. Official selections include Showtime’s former Veep Director and Producer Stephanie Laing’s web series The Crying Room Directed by Laing and Jay Feather. The project is the first video show from her new female-driven comedy website PYPO. Laing wrote the series with Georgia Pritchett and Emilia Barrosse and Sherry Thomas is a producer. It stars Cassidy Freeman, Amy Davidson and Darren O’Hare. The festival will also feature an all new short from HBO Project Greenlight contestant Adriano Valentini titled The Age of Insecurity: Bed Buds. Zach Leary’s SXSW darling short film SETH will also screen at HCSFF. Other projects set to be showcased include Rory Uphold’s popular web series HELLA, as well as Merve Tekin’s hilarious short film Honeypot, which stars Mark Kelly, Brianna Oppenheimer and Frederick Lawrence, which will screen at 12noon on Saturday.

The Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival was birthed to highlight the next generation of comedic storytellers. The festival will showcase short form content with categories that include Web Series, Cringe Comedy, Alternative Comedy, Dark Comedies and of course funny shorts. The event was created and is being organized by Solmont Events. Nicole Castro serves as Festival Director.

Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival’s proud sponsor is BITPIX, the short form content platform that features the best and brightest short mini movies and mini shows from around the world. BITPIX is live and now available online on Roku and Amazon Firestick. Should attendees miss a screening of a short at Hollywood Comedy Shorts Fest, they can catch most of the films via BITPIX’s HCSFF online pass Video on Demand button on the service. Other festival partners include True Vision Entertainment, and the TCL Chinese Theatres.
