The New Media Film Festival has always been on the cutting edge of filmmaking and this year will be spectacular. They are bringing in the heavy hitters with superstars and masters for their Web Series and Technology Panels. The 8th Annual New Media Film Festival is happening June 6, 7, 8, 2017 at The Landmark Theater, 10850 W. Pico Blvd, LA, CA 90064. Each year, Susan Johnston, Founder/Director, New Media Film Festival makes sure that Film Fest impresses international audiences with its diverse genres and cutting edge methods of storytelling – from web series, 3D, 360, AR, AI to 5D extravaganzas. Eighty-seven (87) new media films and content from 34 countries and outer space will be shown. There will be 29 World Premieres, 11 US Premieres and 21 L.A. Premieres.
You don’t want to miss the Web Series Superstar Panel on June 7, moderated by Producer and Director Lon Strickland, former Development Executive for Machinima, a popular digital network and co-founder of Octopie, an animation network featuring panelists, Doug “Doog” Bresler, podcast personality best known for Doogtoons.com and Jake Watson, Partner, Corridor Digital, makers of action, sci-fi, gaming and comedy videos seen by 350+ Million viewers on YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Prime and YouTube RED. The Web Series Superstar Panel looks into the multi platform viewing options, technological expansion, and teaches how to engage a global audience and followed by a Q&A.
On June 8, The Technology Panel features veteran Cinematographer James Mathers, President, The Digital Cinema Society, a group dedicated to the industry’s informed integration on new technology, Ted Schilowitz, founding team member at RED Digital Cinema and Co-Founder of G-Tech. His current roles are as Futurist for 20th Century Fox. As Chief Creative Officer at Barco he’s been spearheading the creative aspects of the Barco Escape cinema project that adds immersive right and left screens to movie theaters. Barco Escape titles include Paramount Pictures Star Trek Beyond and 20th Century Fox The Maze Runner and Maze Runner 2, Scorch Trials along with Michael Mansouri, Co-Founder of Radiant Images, an LA-based solution provider of all mixed realities, from base to augmented and virtual realities. A recognized hub of digital cinema and VR innovation, Radiant collaborates with creatives in Production & Post, Co-Production and through its rental house. Mansouri and his Radiant team specialize in designing and building true end-to-end solutions including new cameras, and finding solutions that remove technical barriers for creative minds. He has developed into one of the leading industry voices in helping content creators understand and harness the power and promise of VR and 360-video technology. Followed by a Q&A.
