Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Approved for $30,000 National Endowment for the Arts Grant

Durham, N.C. – January 28, 2020 – The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, a program of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, has been approved for a $30,000 Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support filmmaker travel and venue costs.

“Full Frames strives to produce a world-class festival experience that ignites important conversations among audiences and filmmakers,” states Full Frame director Deirdre Haj. “Support from the National Endowment for the Arts makes that experience possible and allows us to bring in filmmakers, both emerging and those at the top of their field, and present their work in venues outfitted with top-notch equipment.”

“The arts are at the heart of our communities, connecting people through shared experiences and artistic expression,” said NEA chairman Mary Anne Carter. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support projects like the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, a program of the Center for Documentary Studies.”

The NEA has approved 1,187 grants totaling $27.3 million in the first round of fiscal year 2020 to support arts projects in every state in the nation, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

The Art Works funding category supports projects that focus on public engagement with, and access to, various forms of excellent art across the nation; the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence; learning in the arts at all stages of life; and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life.

The 23rd annual Full Frame Documentary Film Festival will be held April 2–5, 2020, in Durham, North Carolina. Passes and ticket packages go on sale February 11 at 11 a.m. EST at fullframefest.org.
