FREETIME MACHOS by Mika Ronkainen to premiere at Tribeca World Documentary Competition

The first ever Finnish film to compete at the Tribeca Film Festival, the critically acclaimed and award-winning FREETIME MACHOS is proud to have its North American premiere in the World Documentary Competition. The film will also compete for the Best Feature award ($25,000) in Tribeca's first Virtual Film Festival.

A comedy about the world's northern-most - and the third worst - rugby team FREETIME MACHOS follows its members as they brag before the games, fail miserably on the field and recover in the sauna afterwards. Their claims of stoic Northern Finnish manhood are severely tested by the realities of every day life: work, relationships (gay and straight) and their desperate British coach.

FREETIME MACHOS recently won a Special Prize at the Tampere Film Festival. From the jury report: "A gentle and realistic portrait of a group of men and their struggles. This is a story of friendship in the face of change, told with humor and a great choice of music."

Alissa Simon in Variety: Set in the helmer's hometown of Oulu, the pic is an affectionate send-up of stoic northern Finnish manhood."
