Founder Rachel Caplan to Step Down from SF Green Film Festival and looks for her replacementSF Green Film Festival Seeks Executive Director to Lead the Organization into its Second DecadeSF Green Film Festival, the West Coast’s leading event for films and conversations about people and the planet, is seeking its first Executive Director. This decision follows the announcement of the departure of Founder Rachel Caplan who will be leaving the organization this year after 10 years in the job. “Launching and leading San Francisco Green Film Festival over the past decade has been my greatest joy, and I'm proud of all that our staff and board of directors have achieved in bringing complex environmental conversations and ideas into the mainstream,” says Caplan. “This year marks the milestone 10th Anniversary of the Festival, and it’s the moment I’ve always planned to pass the torch. I know great things are ahead for the next ten years and beyond, as SFGFF expands its reputation as a leading force for environmental justice, strengthening communities, and growing the green movement.” The SFGFF Board of Directors has opened the search for the organization’s first ever Executive Director to lead overall strategic, fundraising, financial, and operational responsibilities for SFGFF’s consistent world-class programs. Caplan launched the Festival in 2011 to fill the need to bring communities together to share urgent environmental stories in the city that's at the forefront of both independent film and the global green movement. In 10 years, SFGFF has grown to a year-round organization with a small full-time staff, and has presented over 600 films with 800 special guests, reaching audiences across the region. The Festival is now a leading force for environmental films and discussions and recognized internationally through its official partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and membership in the Green Film Network, an association of 40 environmental film festivals worldwide.
