FEST Industry Program Schedule Announced

Closing in on the 15th edition of FEST, Clifford De Spenser, Guillermo Garcia Ramos, Mariana Sanchez Carniglia, Jennifer Parker and Mihai Gligor are the last confirmed speakers closing the program.

From June 25th to 30th in Espinho, FEST's program for Film Industry Professionals will host more than 50 speakers in more than 30 Masterclasses, Debates, Case Studies and Workshops. The event will have in attendance more than 600 Film Professionals.


It is our absolute pleasure to introduce you to this year's FEST - TG final schedule

Highlighting this very special edition are: 3 very distinct and notorious filmmakers in "Persépolis" Author Marjane Satrapi, Rail d’Or Award winner Ritesh Batra and Icelandic Director, Producer and Actor Baltasar Kormákur; 2 icons of cinematography with veteran Stuart Dryburgh, Oscar nominee for his work in "The Piano" (1993) and one of the faces of a new generation of cinematographers Manuel Alberto Claro, whose contribution in the last 3 films of Lars Von Trier have been exalted all around the world; a legendary editor Jonathan Morris, known for his long-lasting collaboration with Ken Loach; a monstrous display of talent in Sound with John Warhurst and Nina Hartstone from the Bohemian Rhapsody's two-time Oscar-winning sound team, sound engineer Eddy Joseph and music producer Salomé Limón, among others.

Besides TG, the industry program of FEST 2019 will feature a set of activities with the goal of multiplying the networking opportunities within industry participants. 

The first edition of Director Hub will host a tailored set of activities for filmmakers and other industry professionals, tackling a scope of issues concerning film directing focused on the director’s role, tasks, relationships, expectations, obstacles and challenges they have to face, both locally and internationally. Directors André Gil Mata and Shahad Ameen will be presenting two case studies on their films "DRVO" (2018) and "Scales" (2019), respectively. There will be a "Portuguese New Wave" panel featuring some of the hottest Portuguese filmmakers of the moment: Miguel Gonçalves Mendes, Pedro Calebeira, Duarte Coimbra, Pedro Pinho and Bernado Lopes. Other sessions will have Peter Ghesquière and Aga Woszczyńska commenting on the best practices for "Working with your Assistant Director"; and Jack Turits and David Tallon on "Structuring a career as a Filmmaker". Also featured in the Directors hub panel discussions are "Finding or creating the right script"; "Filmmakers Power as a driving force in society" and what are the biggest "Challenges of international co-productions for Directors".

Paralelly, the Industry Meetings will provide an unparalleled platform for one-on-one meetings between attending industry professionals: filmmakers, producers, financiers, distributors, representatives of film institutions, guest speakers, and more; while the Networking Dinners will offer an absolutely unique opportunity to connect and engage in a meaningful conversation with some of the biggest names in the world of filmmaking, while enjoying a traditional Portuguese meal in a laidback and friendly atmosphere.
