Dutch director Dick Maas will receive the Imagine Lifetime Award

The Imagine, Fantastic Film Festival will celebrate its 26th edition in Amsterdam. During the festival Dutch director Dick Maas will receive the Imagine Lifetime Achievement Award.

In 1983 Dick Maas made his feature film debut with the thriller THE ELEVATOR. With this film he won a Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht and the Grand Prize of the Fantastic Film Festival in Avoriaz. Maas built an oeuvre in which horror, humour and suspense are always present. A film by Dick Maas guarantees a lot of spectacle, but is also a real Dutch movie, bold and extrovert, mixed with a dash of irony.

Following Paul Verhoeven in 2002, Maas is the second Dutchman to receive the Imagine Lifetime Achievement Award. SINT, a new horror movie by Dick Maas is expected to premiere in November 2010.

Previous winners of the Imagine Lifetime Achievement Award include Terry Gilliam (2007) and Tim Burton (2008).

Dick Maas will receive his award on the opening night of the festival on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.
