Director Juan Cabral’s ‘Two /One’ Rounds Out Cast And Begins Principal Photography for Protagonist Pictures

Song Yang (The Sword Identify, Wrath of Silence), Zhu Zhu (Cloud Atlas, “Marco Polo”), Dominique McElligot (“House of Cards,” The Guard), and Beau Bridges (The Mountain Between Us, “Masters of Sex,” “Bloodline”) have joined Boyd Holbrook (The Predator, Logan, “Narcos”) in writer-director Juan Cabral’s hypnotic high concept drama Two/One. Principal photography has begun in Vancouver, BC with the six-week shoot covering locations in Alberta and Whistler, Canada.

Two/One explores the concept that while we sleep in one place, we are awake somewhere else. Kaden is a world-class ski jumper in Whistler, Canada, unexpectedly presented with the chance of reconnecting with his teenage sweetheart. Khai is a corporate executive in Shanghai, China, faced with the fact that the woman he fantasizes about on the internet has just started working in his office. The two men go about their lives, without knowing that they are connected. When one is awake, the other is asleep. They dream each other. They are, in some strange way, the same person. The question is what happens if they were ever to meet….

Redrum Films’ Flora Fernandez Marengo (Calvary, The Guard) and Chris Clark (All the Money in the World, Legend) are producing Two/One, along with Dave Valleau (Lavender, The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus) for South Creek Pictures. Holbrook serves as an executive producer on the feature.

Flora Fernandez Marengo commented: “We are delighted to start principal photography on the debut feature of ultra-talented writer-director, Juan Cabral. Two/One is a stunningly visual drama with great originality and heart that explores relationships in a globalized world. It has the potential to be a special and unique film that can break out and touch audiences around the world.”

“Juan Cabral is an exciting and visionary director who has proven his skills at creating dramatic and visually stunning work,” stated Protagonist CEO Dave Bishop. “Two/One is destined to be equally captivating and we are thrilled to see the production underway.   We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Flora Fernandez Marengo and Chris Clark again on a project with true global appeal.”

Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales, with CAA representing the domestic rights to the feature.

Cabral is the Argentinian director known for the acclaimed Cadbury's 'Gorilla' advert and his scripts for Sony Bravia's 'Paint', 'Balls' & 'Rabbits' advertisements. Throughout his career, he has amassed over 20 Cannes Lions, two Cannes Grand Prix and a nomination for ‘Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials’ by the DGA in 2016. Two/One‎ is his feature film directing debut.

Cabral, Yang, Zhu, McElligot, and Bridges, are represented by CAA. Zhu is also represented by Brookside Artist Management and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein; and McElligot by Luber Roklin Entertainment and Sloane Offer Weber and Dern.
