I have come to the conclusion that the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars” was inspired by the Greeks. On the 2nd day of the Los Angeles Greek Festival I was dancing through the films in my head. You discover that many Greek filmmakers like Periklis Hoursoglou in The Building Manager (O Diaheiristis) and Renos Haralambidis in 4 Black Suits (Tessera Mavra Koustoumia) are skilled auteurs immersed in all aspects of their films. Renos is like a Greek Roberto Begnini who has an incredible sense of comedy and Periklis draws you into his film’s character and grabs your emotions and spins them. Then we have Phedron Papamichael who is an awesome cinematographer/director in his film Arcadia Lost.
Each filmmaker shows us the vast landscapes of Greece and you want to call your travel agent to book a flight
Yorgos Lanthimos , director of Dogtooth(Kynodontas) took us on very different psychological journey in which we would try to figure out what would happen if language and common sense were thrown out the window and what the results would be..
