Do you hear the call? That’s Cinequest calling you to join us for our electrifying festival of art, tech, and just plain great people. The show begins this Tuesday evening with the mighty organ lighting up the palatial California Theatre followed by surprise performances plus Nandita Das and her new magnum opus. YES! That’s the way to light up the last days of winter and call in Cinequest and the spring… How much does that cost? Would you believe a twenty-spot, or spend a few more bucks to give you and your friends the after-party at The Glass House to boot.

Who’s going to be joining you for Opening Night, if you bless us with your attendance? Check out the list of sizzling actors and artists that will be on the red carpet as you enter and joining you for the event. And come back for their fantastic movies.

  • #LIKE (World Premiere): A very timely noir thriller about a young woman taking power into her own hands to try and stop a predator. It’s a powerful look at women finding strength in a world that has often taken advantage of them. Apropos in a year Cinequest presents 100 women directors.
  • BRING ME AN AVOCADO (World Premiere): A dynamic film about a Latino family coming together to find strength in the face of tragic events.
  • CLEAN HANDS (World Premiere): An uplifting story of a family in Nicaragua who were lifted from a life of poverty and given a chance to thrive through a new home and education.
  • EVERY TIME I DIE (World Premiere): This provocative and highly original thriller is part supernatural, part suspense, yet examines the meaning of existence through our spiritual connections to something else that may have a hand in our lives.
  • JOE ALL ALONE (World Premiere): A brilliant example of Cinequest’s new television showcase—a youthful and vibrant tale of crime, family, and growing up.
  • LUCKY FIFTY (World Premiere): A lively romantic drama shot in and around San Jose.
  • LUPE (World Premiere): A captivating drama that examines sexual identity through the eyes of a Cuban searching for their missing sister in an underground world of crime.
  • SUBURBAN WILDLIFE (World Premiere): A beautifully told story of growing up in Australia and learning how to navigate life on your own.
  • RICH KIDS: A breathtaking Latino cast sparkles in this timely tale of separation of economic classes in today’s world, told through the eyes of youth.

We are ready for you! Cinequest is stoked!
