Biografilm Festival – International Celebration of Lives

Biografilm Festival – International Celebration of Lives is the first international event entirely dedicated to biographies and life tales.
The sixth edition (Bologna, June 9-14, 2010) was a major success with both critics and audience, with over 30.000 visitors in 6 days and nearly 400 films submitted from all over the world. As usual, in 2010, Biografilm has shown a rich premiere calendar.
During its six editions, Biografilm presented to the Italian audience films such as The Cats of Mirikitani by Linda Hattendorff, winner of over 20 festivals internationally, Joy Division by Grant Gee, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, Taking Woodstock by the multi-awarded director Ang Lee, the Oscar winner The Cove by Louie Psihoyos, Synecdoche, New York by Charlie Kaufman and Mr. Nobody (Director's Cut) by Jaco Van Dormael.
The Festival also contributed to the launch of some Italian movies, such as Una Voce nel Vento (A Voice In The Wind) by Alberto Castiglione, Battaglia (Battle) by Daniela Zanzotto and L'abito e il Volto (The Dress and The Face) by Francesco Constabile.
Biografilm Festival 2011 has opened submissions for the seventh edition (June 10-20, 2011). Submissions will be held until March 31, 2011 through Withoutabox web site (link can be found on biografilm.com) and DVD screeners must be sent to: Biografilm Festival, via Paolo Fabbri 1/4, 40138 Bologna.
The festival is accepting submissions of narrative and documentary features as well as short film entries. Films should be biographies or life tales, with the life and career of a character as their topic. Productions between 2009 and 2011, unpublished in Italy, will be accepted.
The official selection will present the most interesting and original releases from biopic worldwide production and will show 10 works in competition for the Lancia Award and the Best Life Award, both assigned by an international jury, and for the Audience Award, decided by the audience.
