Australia 15/15 Film Festival

The seventh annual 15/15 Film Festival presents local and International short films at the Chauvel Cinema in Oxford Street, Sydney on 31 May as part of this international filmmaking event.

After the Gala awards night in Melbourne, the festival will be touring and local Sydney filmmakers, who participated in the festival, are given the opportunity to have their work screened on home turf.

‘At the Screening Festival, we will share with you the innovative and creative ways emerging filmmakers incorporate the quote and object, producing a beautifully made film within a very short time frame,’ Festival Director Amadeo Marquez-Perez said.

‘The audience is always blown away by what people can do in 15 hours, and with $1000 going to the best film, we’re going to see some really great work.’

The filmmakers showed originality, diversity and spectacular visual quality in their film, alluring a wide variety of audiences. The screening, which will bring a buzz to the city, will allow future enthusiasts to get inspiration, network and gain knowledge for next years 15/15 challenge.

After beginning as a regional event, the 15/15 Film Festival has been running successfully for seven years and grown to cover all corners of the globe, with entries from Spain, Belguim, Czech Republic, Japan and Puerto Rico.

‘The incredibly positive and dynamic response we have had from so many people has driven us to keep expanding and bringing the festival to anyone who wants to access it. This year we have had filmmakers from France come on board,’ Amadeo said.

‘It means that if you make a film in Wagga Wagga, we come and screen your film and others in Wagga Wagga – this allows emerging filmmakers to have a dialogue about their work and compare it to films from around Australia and the world.’

The festival will then travel to Wagga Wagga and afterwards nationally before heading to South-east Asia and Europe. Visit for the entire list of screenings.

The films will be shown from 6pm on 31 May at the Chauvel Theatre on Oxford Street. Tickets can be pre-purchased by contacting The Event Shop on
1 300 727 432. Pre-purchase is recommended as some sessions are on high request.
