AFM names favorite film contest nominees, online voting is openPublic to Choose Favorite Pitch Winner in Online Voting Through Jan. 24 at www.PeoplesChoice.com The American Film Market (AFM) today announced the four nominees for the second annual Favorite Film Pitch contest: Mouncey Ferguson (Playdate), Neal Havener (The Dragonlore Trilogy), John Marshall Jones (The Guest at Central Park West) and Michael Lipoma (The Lost Notebooks of Jimmy Ganootz: Culinary Secrets of a Wise Guy on the Run).
During the 2011 PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS live telecast last night, fans were once again offered the opportunity to begin voting exclusively at www.PeoplesChoice.com through Jan. 24 for the pitch they would most like to see get made into a film.
AFM teams with the People's Choice Awards (PCA) for the Favorite Film Pitch contest. It is designed to provide an increased opportunity to get film pitches in front of producers, distributors and, in a unique twist, the voting public.
This year's Favorite Film Pitch contest submissions, limited to two-and-a-half minutes each, were recorded live Nov. 6-9 on a mini-set at the American Film Market. A group of industry leaders subsequently selected the four finalists.
David Minnihan, whose Father John project led the 2010 Favorite Film Pitch contest, received his People's Choice Award at the "Pitch Me!" seminar during November's AFM.
In addition to receiving the People's Choice Award for Favorite Film Pitch, this year's winner will also receive an AFM 2011 package that includes full access for two to the AFM, including all seminars and conferences; hotel for five nights in Santa Monica; and scheduled meetings with producers and distributors. For more information and contest guidelines, visit www.AmericanFilmMarket.com/favorite-film-pitch.
Now in its 37th year, the People's Choice Awards celebrate fan favorites in music, movies and television. The People's Choice website at www.PeoplesChoice.com serves as a year-round destination for entertainment enthusiasts to voice their opinions on pop culture by voting in and creating polls and features an extensive video archive and photo gallery of People's Choice Awards footage. PeoplesChoice.com houses the voting platform where fans determine the categories, nominees and winners for the annual awards show. Fred Nelson is the President of People's Choice, and the awards show is produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc., which is represented by MediaVest Worldwide, Inc., supervisors of the production. Queen Latifah is the host of PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS 2011 and Mark Burnett is the Executive Producer.
The AFM is produced by the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), the trade association representing the world's producers and distributors of independent motion pictures and television programs.
