Access to Withoutabox will close in a year from now: on October 30, 2019

We received this week the news from Withoutabox with a message announcing the end of the service for 2019.

Sorry to see them go, even if many festivals and filmmakers seem happy about it.

I remember witnessing their birth, when filmfestivals.com was still young, meeting with the two co founders, becoming partners, then disapointed partners, then co sponsors of a few film festival conferences....then finally seeing them merge into amazon and IMDB to slowly disappearing from the radar.

The spectacular growth of filmfreeway, with easier and cheaper services is probably one of the key reasons for their failure to survive.

This is the message they just shared with us.§

After more than 10 years operating the Withoutabox film festival submission service, we have decided to phase out the service over the next year. As always, our team is working to ensure your submissions are properly processed and we are here to help through the transition.

These changes will take effect in 2019. Here are some key dates to help prepare for the phase out next year:

  • Submissions on Withoutabox close on September 16, 2019.
This is the last day you will be able to submit your project through Withoutabox.
  • Access to Withoutabox will close on October 30, 2019.
This is the last day you will be able to review your submissions and projects on Withoutabox.

You will be able to continue submitting to festivals using Withoutabox until September 16, 2019. You will also continue to have full access to Withoutabox services including (but not limited to) creating projects, uploading videos, and searching festivals during this time period. After September 16, 2019 and until the service is disabled on October 30, 2019, you can access your Withoutabox data but you will not be able to submit to festivals and create/update projects.

Additional details can be found here.

We are grateful to all the filmmakers who have shared their stories through Withoutabox and the film festivals who have discovered talented artists around the world using our service.

Best regards,
The Withoutabox Team
