6th alFresco filmFesto To screen Rocky Horror Picture Show outdoors

6th alFresco filmFesto Takes a Jump to the Left with the First Ever Official Outdoor Screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Canada

alFresco filmFesto , a production of the Atlantic Film Festival Association, is back and geared up for six outdoor summer screenings, every Friday evening from July 28 through September 1, 2006. Screenings will take place at Tall Ships Quay, Halifax Waterfront, and will be projected on the wall of the Electropolis building. Gates open at 8:00 PM with showtime at 9:00 PM or dusk. Admission is a $5 donation to support this community event.

“We’re very excited about having the first ever official outdoor screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Canada- it’s such a cult classic!” says Lia Rinaldo, Festival Director. “We always get big crowds for alFresco filmFesto but we are going to make sure that this one will be extra special.”

Entry to each screening will include a chance to win two nights accommodations for two at any Delta Hotel in Atlantic Canada, courtesy of Delta Barrington & Halifax. alFresco-goers can also increase their chances of winning the grand prize of round-trip airfare for two to Vancouver, courtesy of Fraser & Hoyt Worldwide Travel and WestJet, by attending all screenings. The grand-prize winner will be announced at the September 1st screening. There will also be other nightly giveaways and prizes.

This year’s The Centre for Arts and Technology People’s Choice James Bond Online Vote provides an opportunity for the public to vote for their favourite James Bond movie from the following: The Living Daylights, Tomorrow Never Dies, Diamonds Are Forever, Octopussy, From Russia With Love, and Thunderball.

In case of heavy rain, screenings will be postponed until the next evening. Any rain date notices will be posted on the alFresco website at by 3:00 PM on the day of the postponed screening. alFresco-goers are asked to bring their own lawn chair or blanket for seating. Look out for the 26th Atlantic Film Festival special edition alFresco-style screening on Friday, September 8, 2006 that will launch this year’s Festival – September 14-23, 2006.
