36th International Short Film Festival Berlin 2020 ready to rock...

10 - 15 November 2020

Over 300 short films in 38 programs: Welcome to colourful, entertaining and challenging films and an exciting showcase of international short film production.

Advance sales have begun!
Since the new social-distancing regulations will result in considerably lower cinema capacities, we recommend booking ONLINE early. Browse our website and book through the respective cinemas!

The program:

Central to the program are the competitions, from the International and German competitions to the Documentary Film Competition and the Green Film Competition. interforum is hosting a series of master classes and panels at Pfefferberg Haus 13, there is an exhibition by Polish artist Kaja Renkas of her poster designs in Augmented Reality, and there will be a celebration of Virtual Reality at the Zeiss Planetarium.

This year’s FOCUS ON section is formed by four programs dedicated to films from Poland and 2 programs addressing postcolonialism. And the wildest of all film events, Eject, The Long Night of Weird Shorts, usually held at the magnificent Volksbühne Berlin, will take place in the historic Königstadt courtyard open air – with the usual eject crew to guide you through the fun and noisy rounds of voting for your favourite film - plus cosy cushions, hot soup and mulled wine.

Because of the reduced number of cinema seats available, we are also showing programs online on the SOONER platform: From 11 to 22 November, you can watch the Eyes Wide Open Online Competition and 6 special programs. The Sound & Vision event, where musicians perform new compositions to short films at the Volksbühne will be available online after the live broadcast on 13 November. All this for an "entrance fee" of just €7.95

The venues are Volksbühne Berlin, Babylon, Acud Kino, Kino in der Königstadt, Zeiss Großplanetarium, Pfefferberg Theater, Pfefferberg Haus 13, Rollberg Kino and the Gewerbehof courtyard in the old Königstadt.

Browse our website and book through the respective cinemas!
