11th AUDI Festival of German Films in Australia with Leander Haußmann Focus

 

After the jubilee year in 2011, the Audi Festival of German Films, which is organised by the Goethe Institut in Australia together with German Films, will be presenting a total of 32 feature films and four documentaries as well as eight shorts in Sydney (18.-30.4.), Melbourne (19.-30.4.), Brisbane (19.-25.4.), Adelaide (26.4.-1.5.), Perth (3.-6.5.) and Canberra (3.-6.5.).

The festival tour will be opened in Sydney on 18.4. with HOTEL LUX  with director Leander Haußmann in attendance. Two of the director's other films can be seen: SUN ALLEY (SONNENALLEE) and ROBERT ZIMMERMANN TANGLED UP IN LOVE (ROBERT ZIMMERMANN WUNDERT SICH ÜBER DIE LIEBE). A day later, director Hendrik Handloegten will open the event in Melbourne with his film SUMMER WINDOW (FENSTER ZUM SOMMER). Other opening films are CRACKS IN THE SHELL (DIE UNSICHTBARE) by Christian Schwochow in Brisbane, 4 DAYS IN MAY (4 TAGE IM MAI) by Achim von Borries in Canberra and WESTWIND by Robert Thalheim in Adelaide and Perth.

Moreover, four documentaries are screening in German Currents: GERHARD RICHTER - PAINTING by Corinna Belz, JOSCHKA AND MR FISCHER (JOSCHKA UND HERR FISCHER) by Pepe Danquart, PEAK by Hannes Lang and RODICAS by Alice Gruia, who will also travelling to Australia as one of the guests.

Five new children's and young people's films can be seen in Kinder Kapers: LESSONS OF A DREAM (DER GANZ GROSSE TRAUM) by Sebastian Grobler, TOM SAWYER by Hermine Huntgeburth, THE CROCODILES 3: ALL FOR ONE (VORSTADTKROKODILE 3 - FREUNDE FÜR IMMER) by Wolfgang Groos, WINTER DAUGHTER (WINTERTOCHTER) by Johannes Schmid and FAMOUS FIVE (FÜNF FREUNDE) by Mike Marzuk.

Eight shorts will be presented as a package entitled Short Germans: ARMADINGEN by Philipp Kaeßbohrer, THE CENTRIFUGE BRAIN PROJECT by Till Nowak, THE FLIES (THE BIRDS II) (DIE FLIEGEN (THE BIRDS II)) by Susann Maria Hempel, CENTRIFUGAL FORCE (FLIEHKRAFT) by Marie Elisa Scheidt and Alexandra Wesolowski, THE HOUSE (DAS HAUS) by David Buob, HOW TO RAISE THE MOON by Anja Struck, PAULINA by Lynn Kossler and SYMPHONY OF FOOLS (SINFONIE DER DUMPFBACKEN) by Volker Heymann.

The audience will also be able to see two Swiss films under the label Schweizerdeutsch: THE FRÄULEIN AND THE SANDMAN (DER SANDMANN) by Peter Luisi and SENNENTUNTSCHI by Michael Steiner.
