11 Films Competing for the Heart of Sarajevo

Eleven Feature Films Competing for the Heart of Sarajevo
Eleven feature films from nine countries from the region are competing this year for the Sarajevo Film Festival Award - Heart of Sarajevo.

Sarajevo Film Festival (which runs August 19-27) will bring together 11 film crews, i.e. about 100 guests for the Competition Program in the Feature Film category alone.

As the programmer of the Competition Program, Elma Tataragić states, what is characteristic in this year’s selection are two threads connecting all the 11 films competing for the SFF awards. The prevailing tendencies are social engagement - on the one hand - and personal themes and issues, on the other.

The Competition Program of the 11th Sarajevo Film Festival will offer four world, two international and five regional premieres.

World premieres:

”Well Tempered Corpses”, Benjamin Filipović (Slovenia/ Bosnia and Hercegovina/ France/ Italy)

“Kukumi”, Isa Qosja (UNMI Kosovo)

“Lady Zee”, Georgi Djulgerov (Bulgaria)

“What is Man Without a Mustache?”, Hrvoje Hribar (Croatia).

International premieres:

“Awakening From the Dead”, Miloš Radivojević (Serbia and Montenegro)

“Ryna”, Ruxandra Zenida

Regional premieres:

“Dallas Among Us”, Robert Adrian Pejo (Hungary/ Germany/ Austria)

“Labour Equals Freedom”, Damjan Kozole (Slovenia)

“Johanna”, Kornél Mundruczó (Hungary)

“South by Southeast”, Milutin Petrović (Serbia and Montenegro)

“Sorry for Kung Fu”, Ognjen Sviličić (Croatia)

Gala Screenings:

“Waiting for the Clouds”, Yesim Ustaoglu (Turkey)

“Hostage”, Constantinos Giannaris (Greece)

With the screening of these films, the Competition Program of the 11th Sarajevo Film Festival opens its gate to Turkey and Greece from the next year, 2006 onwards.
