Lunenburg Doc Fest final deadline



Lunenburg Doc Fest pays screening fees and presents the following awards:


  • $1000  International Feature Documentary
  • $1000  Canadian Feature Documentary
  • $1000  Audience Award
  • Short Film Award (crystal trophy)
  • Atlantic Filmmaker Award (trophy plus in-kind services)

Artist fees are offered to help support the on-site participation of one director from each selected feature documentary at the 9th annual Lunenburg Doc Fest, September 22-28, 2022.



Lunenburg Doc Fest celebrates the art of documentary film and creates a place of connection between filmmakers and film enthusiasts in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

Submit to the 9th Lunenburg Doc Fest for a chance to showcase your film in our hybrid celebration of documentary and win cash awards!

Lunenburg Doc Fest showcases feature-length and short documentary films and presents cash awards, community and destination events, celebrations, plus professional development sessions and The Dock Market 1-to-1 meetings for filmmakers and industry decision-makers.

Our festival pays screening fees and awards are presented in each of the following categories: International Feature Documentary, Canadian Feature Documentary, Audience Award, Short Film, Atlantic Filmmaker.

All fact-based films will be considered.  We have particular interest in documentaries within the following categories: Atlantic, International, Environmental, Political, Art, Music, Youth, Family, and Experimental.  Interactive web documentaries are also considered. The festival showcases major artists as well as emerging voices.

For *onsite festival* editions LDF supports travel, accommodation, and full festival and market access to a director of each selected feature documentary.

Lunenburg Doc Fest accepts submission exclusively through FilmFreeway.
