Calcutta International Short Film Festival aims to show the very best in independent short films from India and around the world and focusses on independent filmmakers and discovery. Submissions are open for Narrative Short, Animation Short, Documentary shorts and Experimental Short films.

COMPETITIVE STRANDS

For the competitive films strand at Calcutta International Short Film Festival 2020, short films will compete for: Best Short Film, Best Student Film, Best Animation, Best Experimental Film, Best Documentary, Best Director, Best Acting, Best Editing, Best Sound Designing, and Best Cinematography to recognize achievement for the most innovative talent and films that challenge the boundaries of filmmaking.

Based at the City of Joy – Kolkata, Independent Film Society (IFS) is dedicated to showcasing and providing a platform for thought-provoking, innovative, and compelling films from around the world, many of which might otherwise have not been widely heard of.

IFS is committed to bringing the best of world cinema to Kolkata and beyond. As a non-profit organization, it relies on the support of its members and partners to continue providing a platform for independent films that deserve a screen.

IFS organizes exciting and unique film events that promote thought-provoking indie, avant-garde, classic, or alternative cinema from around the world. As an organization, IFS takes pride in showcasing independent and alternative cinema in and around Kolkata, as well as championing new, innovative filmmaking talents. One of its central aims is to establish a multicultural dialogue among filmmakers in Kolkata and beyond.
