''Roma” by Alfonso Cuaròn will be awarded the "Best Film in a Foreign Language” prize at 23rd edition of ''Capri, Hollywood"

''Roma” by Alfonso Cuaròn will be awarded the "Best Film in a Foreign Language” prize at the 23rd edition of  ''Capri, Hollywood - The International Film Festival''. The announcement was made by Lina Wertmuller, honorary chairperson of the Istituto Capri nel Mondo, promoting the event in association with the Cinema Department of the Italian Ministry of Culture  and the Campania Region.
“This was a unanimous choice – says the Roman filmmaker – because “Roma” a formally perfect and extremely intense film, tells a wonderful and moving story that has literally mesmerized us. A film full of love and dignity, a kind of Mexican version of Fellini’s “Amarcord” celebrating the generosity of women and offering us a political and historical overview of a wondrous Country, full of contradictions and social contrasts. Cuaron’s ingenuity is close to Fellini’s and many other great masters of European cinema”.
'We are deeply honored to screen “Roma” at ''Capri, Hollywood'' because this deeply inspired and powerful film will make the history of cinema” adds Pascal , founder and producer  of the Festival while announcing the 29th December tribute with the special screening of ''Roma'' on the big screen of the Cinema Paradiso in  Anacapri.

The film, distributed by Netflix and winner of the Golden Lion at the 75th Venice Film Festival has been nominated to three Golden Globes (Best director, best screenplay, best film in a foreign language) and is among the “favorite” in the race to the great international awards of 2019. The director of ''Gravity”, who went back to film in his Country after 16 years, will be among one of the undisputed protagonists of the award season. Alfonso Cuaròn was the first Mexican filmmaker in the history to win the Oscar and the Director Guild of America Award.

The 23rd edition of Capri Hollywood will open on December 27th with the European premiere of "Vice" by Adam McKay, starring Christian Bale, produced by Brad Pitt and nominated to 6 Golden Globes. Many talents will attend the event including the actors Nick Nolte and Jonathan Pryce, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement “ Capri Legend Award”; the Israeli director Amos Gitai accompanied by Noa; the British actors Joely Richardson (who will share the Person of the Year Award with Italian screen-writer and philatropist Andrea Puragtori), Frederick Schmidt and Lashana Lynch (who will share the Breakout Actor Award with the Italians Marianna Fontana and Antonio Folletto); the new king of American horror cinema, Eli Roth, recipient of the 'Master of Fantasy Award' for 'The house with a clock in its walls”, together with his friend Bradley Fisher,  winner of “Producer of the Year” award for the same title and for “Suspiria” by Luca Guadagnino and "American Dream/ American Knightmare" by Antoine Fuqua. New Awards will be announced along the Festival.
