Jonathan Pryce will receive the 2018 Capri Hollywood – The International Film Festival’s "Legend Award"The award-winning British actor Jonathan Pryce, who is receiving international acclaim for his extraordinary performance in Biorn Runge’s “The Wife,” and expected in 2019 for his role as Pope Francis in Fernando Meirelles’ movie “The Pope,” will receive the 2018 Capri Hollywood – The International Film Festival’s "Legend Award" on December 30th on the Italian Island. The Festival’s 23rd edition, which runs from December 27, 2018 to January 2, 2019, will be chaired by the American director and screenwriter Lee Daniels and the Israeli artist Noa. Iconic British filmmaker Terry Gilliam will present the award. Pryce and Gilliam have been friends since they worked together on the cult movies “Brazil” (1985,) “The Adventures of Baron Münchausen” (1988) and “The Brothers Grimm” (2005,) as well as the recent “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.” Prior recipients of the Capri Legend Award include Omar Sharif, Ben Kingsley, Samuel L. Jackson, Faye Dunaway, Vanessa Redgrave, Helen Mirren and Gilliam. “Jonathan Pryce is a brilliant artist who has delivered so many memorable performances during his illustrious career,” says festival producer-founder Pascal Vicedomini in making the announcement on behalf of the Capri in the World Institute. “We are extremely pleased to be honoring him and that he will be joining us in Capri during the year-end holidays to accept his award.” Having starred in over seventy films including his latest movie “The Wife,” where his co-star Glenn Close is a leading 2019 Oscar contender, as well as 46 television shows, the 71-year-old Pryce has portrayed a broad cross section of high-profile roles. These include being the leading character in the Netflix production “The Pope” starring Antony Hopkins as former Pope Joseph Ratzinger; as Juan Domingo Perón alongside Madonna in the “Evita”; as Elliot Carver in the James Bond 007 film “Tomorrow Never Dies” directed by Roger Spotiswoode; as a cast member of the film saga “Pirates of the Caribbean” and as High Sparrow in the TV series “Game of Thrones.” Capri, Hollywood will kick off on December 27th with the European premier of the movie "Vice" directed by Adam McKay and starring Christian Bale in the title role. Produced by Megan Ellison, Will Ferrell, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Adam McKay, Kevin J. Messick and Brad Pitt, the film has been nominated for six Golden Globes. On December 28th the Israeli singer Noa will join Israeli director Amos Gitai as he receives the Capri Award for his lifetime career achievements following the screening of “A Tramway in Jerusalem.” Some of the noted artists who will attend the festival include: film director Mario Martone, who will be honored as 'Master of Cinematic Art'; Marianna Fontana and Antonio Folletto, the leading actors of “Capri Revolution” who will be named ‘Actors of the Future’; Matteo Garrone, whose latest film, ''Dogman,'' will receive the 'Capri Award – European Movie of the Year’ and whose actor Marcello Fonte who will receive the ‘European Actor of the Year’ award; US director Eli Roth who will receive the 'Master of Fantasy Award' for his “The House with a Clock in Its Walls”; Italian director Mario Martone will be honored as "Master of Cinematic Art" for his "Capri Revolution”. Finally Brad J Fischer will receive the "Producer of the Year Award" and veteran Italian producer Fulvio Lucisano will be honored with the "Capri Legend Award" The annual film event, supported by italian Ministry of Cultural Asset and the Campania Region, will once again welcome globally renowned filmmakers and movie stars to the Gulf of Naples alongside comparable Italian artists.
