Voltage Pictures has acquired international rights to the art heist thriller American Night

Voltage Pictures has acquired international rights to the art heist thriller American Night, starring Golden Globe-winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Elvis, “Vikings”, “The Tudors”), Emile Hirsch (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Into the Wild, Alpha Dog), Paz Vega (Rambo V, “The OA”, Spanglish), and Golden Globe and Emmy-winner Jeremy Piven (“Entourage”, The Kingdom, Sin City), it was announced today by Voltage Pictures’ President and COO Jonathan Deckter. Voltage will introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming Marché du film June 21-25, 2021.

 

The highly anticipated film is written and directed by Alessio Della Valle. The plot follows Michael Rubino (Hirsch) who has just become the Don of the New York Mafia, but his greatest dream is to devote his life to painting and become a great artist. John Kaplan (Meyers), an art dealer, may feel like his life is in shambles, but he still has the best eye for spotting fakes in the world. Their paths, apparently distant, cross when Andy Warhol’s Pink Marilyn is stolen, setting off a series of unexpected events that upend their lives.

 

American Night is produced by Martha Capello (Martha Production), Ilaria Dello Iacono (Pegasus Entertainment), and Giorgio Ferrero, in association with Giovanni Cova and Sergio Romerio (QMI), with RAI Cinema.  

 

“We are happy to work with Voltage on this incredibly exciting motion picture,” said Capello. “American Night is a unique and very cool film, packed with great action sequences as well as breathtakingly beautiful scenes. American Night is pop, colorful and an extremely fun rollercoaster, we strongly believe in this film.”

 

“An all-star cast and a whip-smart narrative centered on, and featuring some of the most famous art pieces in recent history, make American Night an incredibly attractive package,” said Deckter. “We’re thrilled to be championing this special film on the international front, and can’t wait to share with our partners.”

 

The pic also features artwork by Andy Warhol, Mario Schifano and Jeff Koons, amongst others.

 

Rounding out the cast are Fortunato Cerlino, Michael Madsen, Annabelle Belmondo and the international popstar Anastacia, who wrote and performed the original song “American Night”.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile starring Zac Efron, Lily Collins, Kaya Scodelario, Jim Parsons, and John Malkovich premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to great acclaim.
