Quick Look at Chilean producers at Marché du Film in Cannes 2022


The delegation of more than 20 national producers who will attend the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film includes 6 Chilean producers who will participate with the support of the Ministry of Arts, Cultures and Heritage, through its Support Program for Participation in International Markets, belonging to the Council of the Art and Audiovisual Industry (CAIA).

Rocío Jadue (Fabula)

Rocío is Head of Latin American Film by Fabula, a producer who won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2018 for A Fantastic Woman by Sebastián Lelio.

She is taking to the market The Land of the Savages by Fernando Guzzoni, a historical thriller with western touches that takes us back to Chile in 1830, where a slave owner lives tormented by sinister nightmares and his dark past. This will be the fourth film by Guzzoni, director of the award-winning Dog's Flesh (San Sebastián, 2012) and Jesus (Toronto and San Sebastián) and what will be his third film, the awaited urban drama still to be released,  Blanquita.

Giancarlo Nasi (Quijote Films)

Producer of one of the most awarded production companies in Chile, with films that have premiered in Cannes, Venice, Berlin and San Sebastian, among others.

Presenting twice at the Cannes Film Festival, the feature film The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, a debut film by one of the most promising Chilean directors of recent times, Diego Céspedes (The creatures that melt under the sun, selected in La Semaine de la Critique 2022 and The Summer of the Electric Lion, First Prize at the Cinéfondation de Cannes 2019). The LGBTQ+ film portrays the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s in a mining town in northern Chile. Winner of the Irusoin Award for Post Production of the San Sebastian Industry 2020.

Carlos Núñez (Storyboard Media)

Along with his partner, Gabriela Sandoval, he is the producer of Storyboard Media. Their latest films include The Sky is Red by Francina Carbonell (Signis Feature Documentary Award, Toulouse, 2021) and El Gurú by Rory Barrientos (Special Jury Prize, Pacific Meridian Festival, 2019), among other award-winning films.

He brings to the market A good day to die by Marcelo Ferrari Muñoz. A film about Chile during the Military Dictatorship of Pinochet, about exile and resilience. In 1987, Pachi, a young piano student, was shot in the head during a protest against the military dictatorship.

Omar Zeballos (Voladores Films)

In 2019, Omar Zeballos, along with his partner Sophie Chevalier, created Voladores Films with the intention of producing content that links Latin America with Europe for an international audience.

He is taking to the market: The fictional drama Puyuhuapi directed by Chevalier, and which seeks to answer the question: What do the inhabitants hide under the tin roofs of their wooden houses?

Clara Larraín (Clara Films)

 The actress and producer has specialized in international co-production, maintaining a close relationship with Mexico and the United Kingdom, with which she co-produced the series White is for Virgins (SLFF available on HBO Max).

She is bringing to the market: You Tell me by Jacqueline Pepall, a LGBTQ+ fictional comedy that delves into the life of a woman who has a comatose father. When he finally wakes up, he has 20 years of lost memories and a second chance to rescue his relationship. But for this, he has to decide if he can tell the truth about his sexuality.

Florencia Rodríguez (Oro Films)

Co-founder of Oro Films along with Dominga Ortúzar, producer who premiered the co-production between Chile, Argentina and Brazil, To Kill the Beast by Agustina San Martín in the Discovery section of Toronto 2021.

She is bringing to the market: Bella cosa mortal, the second film by director Nicolás Postiglione, a portrait of a teenager growing up in a conservative German community in southern Chile. Falling in love with a Chilean woman, his traditional family falls apart.
