Movies that Matter with Wim Wenders and Dario Vigano (Vatican) - An initiative from Festival Sacred for Beauty

Panel at The American Pavilion in Cannes on Responsibility of filmmakers in making movies that matter, with Dario Vigano, prefect at Secretariat of Commuincation in Vatican, Wim Wenders and Anne Facerias (Festival Sacré de la Beauté) moderated by Bruno Chatelin with Jesus Colina Editorial director Aleteia.

Dario Vigano came to Cannes with a short text on Cinema to share " Cinema Stories of Hope" and a message from the Pope.

I have translated this paragraph for you. The french text is available here.

Communicating hope and trust in our time, is the title chosen by the pope for the 51st world day for social communication (May 28), to attract the attention of all media and information professionals, the entire community, to being promoters of the true and honest stories, not to mention confidence in today and tomorrow. "I would like," said Pope Francis, "to contribute to the search for an open and creative style of communication that is never willing to give evil a first role, but which seeks to highlight the possible solutions, inspiring An active and responsible approach to the people to whom the information is communicated.

I would like to invite to offer to the men and women of our time stories marked by the logic of the "good news". This is what we  (always) expect from good cinema.

Beeing the moderator of this panel meant a lot for me. And I sincerely hope that the warm response from the packed audience will be inspiring for our community of filmmakers who will perhaps be touched by the urgence of the good news in making movies that will matter. Video will beposted shortly.
