James O'Brien’s HYPERFUTURA, the controversial cult sci-fi feature film with Eric Kopatz gets cable VOD premiere

From acclaimed indie director James O'Brien comes the new controversial cult sci-fi feature film HYPERFUTURA, starring break out talent Eric Kopatz- available now on iTunes and cable VOD and coming soon to Amazon Prime.

Utilizing experimental multi-media techniques, HYPERFUTURA challenges the Hollywood mainstream with an extreme alternative cinema that makes use of archival footage and special effects married to a live action narrative. Like Terrence Malick's Tree of Life, HYPERFUTURA has polarized audiences with its radical techniques and complex story line.

Set in a dystopian future where citizens without jobs disappear without a trace, Adam (Eric Kopatz) answers an ad for a medical test experiment and unknowingly becomes the prime subject in a history altering transhumanism project. Battling the will of a mad scientist (Gregory Kiem), Adam's only ally is the beautiful cloned female test subject Simone (Karen Corona).

HYPERFUTURA marks the second collaboration between writer/director James O'Brien (Wish You Were Here, Venice Bound) and actor/experimental filmmaker Eric Kopatz (Sleepwalker, Illusion Femme). Their first film, the black and white noir short Bastard, was selected by The American Cinematheque to open for Nosferatu at a DGA retrospective of Werner Herzog.

They followed Bastard with a feature produced by The Artists Coalition- Venice Bound - which had its international premiere at the '95 Cannes Film Festival.

O'Brien and Kopatz have founded the production and distribution company Coldwater Bluemoon to foster unconventional works of cinema that break ground beyond the Hollywood boundaries.

HYPERFUTURA and it's mash-up approach to movie making pays tribute to pioneers such as Craig Baldwin (Spectors of the Spectrum) and Sergei Eisenstein-- unveiling a provocative DIY cinema experiment for a brave new world. The film is distributed by Pan Global Entertainment  and available to film buyers throughout the world via the Cannes Marche website Cinando.
