La Danza Nera (The Dark Dance) is a film influenced and echoes from contempory socio-cultural reflections on the state of politics which rule our world.

NOTES OF INTENT

"A politician (a popular mayor, brilliant and successfull, candidate for the Parliament) clashes with a graduate, disappointed and against the current dancer.
When I think about "La Danza Nera The Dark Dance", I see a compelling work, with a contemporary direction, deep in the contents and, in the heritage of the Noir films of the seventies. My film is violent, quite violent, but mostly from a psychological point of view. I designed and shot "La Danza Nera The Dark Dance"  to be a powerful, aesthetically sumptuous and international film."
Mauro John Capece

MAURO JOHN CAPECE: THE DIRECTOR OF THE MOVIE

Mauro John Capece (Director of the Movie) was born in 1974 in San Benedetto del Tronto. Growing up in a family perpetually on the road, composed of a political father and entrepreneur, a mother hippie, librarian and grandparents respectively defector of the homeland in the Second World War and old glory of cycling that has certainly contributed to expand its horizons. He has always been creative and inclined to art: he starts taking pictures as a child and writing short stories (he will publish for the first time at age 14 with Edizioni Tracce). After high school he went to New York to study Film Direction. From 1992 to 2008 he directed and often produced 36 short films and 4 documentaries. The Sopranist, selected at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and winner at the New York Independent Film & Video Festival and the Poet at the European Independent Film Festival and at the Valdarno Cinema Fedic.

In 2008 he made two works that were distributed simultaneously: Alieno the man of the future presented at the Montreal World Film Festival and Evoque: Reality Show (Dogme#61) presented at the Rome International Film Festival. At the same time he publishes three collections of stories and a novel with Edizioni Tracce and Sovera Edizioni.

The watershed in his film career was the feature film La Scultura, an independent production that soon became a real cult worldwide: in fact, he received 38 Awards out of 34 official selections in festivals all over the world, including eight awards for Best Director.

In 2016 he made the SFashion feature film, presented in world premiere at the fortieth edition of The Montreal World Film Festival, theatrically released in 2017 and distributed by Imago Distributions.

In 2019 La Scultura will be theatrically distribute in Italy  after being sold to Amazon, Leomark Pictures, New World Cinema e Sony Asia Pacific.

THE FILM’S POTENTIAL

Films like "The Girl with the Dragon Tatto" gave us the idea of how successful at the box office a film with a woman executioner in action can be.
