Arclight has announced the latest addition to their market slate of the female-driven racing film Lady Driver.

In a leading start to the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes, Arclight Films has announced the latest addition to their market slate: the female-driven racing film Lady Driver. The film features rising star Grace Van Dien (NBC’s “The Village”, Netflix’s “Greenhouse Academy”) Sean Patrick Flanery (Showtime’s “Dexter”, The Boondock Saints) and Christina Moore (Disney’s “Jessie”).

Arclight will rep foreign rights to the completed feature and will introduce the project to buyers as well as having a market premiere screening in Cannes.

Forrest Films, the new venture fronted by Forrest and Charlotte Lucas of Lucas Oil and actor/producer Ali Afshar, will release the film theatrically in the U.S. on October 25th, 2019. Scott Kennedy will oversee all marketing and distribution for the film.

Directed by Shaun Paul Piccinino (The Lackey) from the screenplay written by John Ducey (Dirt), the story follows a rebellious teen who embarks on a solo summer journey to connect with her roots, she finds herself in a new world of drag car racing, geared up for the ride of her life, and discovers she had the drive in her all along.

“We are delighted to represent a film that is as electrifying as it is inspiring teamed with a lot of heart,” said Arclight chairman, Gary Hamilton. “It’s an encouraging film about female empowerment and triumph in a male dominated sport that’s relatable to all youth and adults alike.  We look forward to sharing this powerful story with our partners at the upcoming market.”

The film is produced by Ali Afshar (American Wrestler: The Wizard) and Christina Moore (Dirt) for Forrest Films. Hadeel Reda brokered the agency deal with Arclight Films on behalf of Forrest Films.

Grace Van Dien recently played the leading role of Sharon Tate for IFC Film’s and the 2018 Venice Film Festival official selection Charlie Says. She has also appeared in the Netflix original series “Greenhouse Academy” and Showtime’s “White Famous”. Van Dien currently stars in the NBC series “The Village”.

Sean Patrick Flanery is most well-known for his role as Connor MacManus in the cult favorite feature film The Boondock Saints, followed by his role in Powder. He has also appeared in the popular Saw franchise, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter and Showtime’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning series “Dexter”. Up next for Flanery is the thriller The Orchard alongside Thomas Jane, Jay Mohr, and Henry Rollins.

Christina Moore is best known for her starring roles in Disney’s International Hit “Jessie,” HBO’s “True Blood,” FOX’s “That 70s Show,” Paramount’s Without A Paddle and Liongsgate’s Delta Farce.

Arclight’s Cannes slate also includes the sci-fi thriller Possessor starring Sean Bean, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tuppence Middleton, Andrea Riseborough and Christopher Abbott, directed by Brandon Cronenberg, the true-life prison escape feature film Escape From Pretoria starring Daniel Radcliffe and Daniel Webber, the 2019 Berlin Film Festival official selection Öndög from Golden Bear winning director Wang Quan’an, the high-octane sci-fi thriller Assimilate, the female-led Vietnamese action thriller Furie starring Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Veronica Ngo, and the big budget Chinese co-production Killer 10 to be directed by Phillip Noyce
