From “Rushmore” director, Wes Anderson, comes a very amusing, off-beat, eccentric film about two misfit pre-tweens who just want to escape conformity and be together. Help Bill Murray, Ed Norton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, and Troop 55, find Sam “Shakusky,” (played by Jared Gilman), and his girlfriend, Suzy (Kara Hayward). Shakusky, a troubled orphan, recently wrote a letter of resignation from being a part of Troop 55 and the Khaki Scouts, has escaped through a hole in his tent, and set off downstream to meet his penpal, Suzy, whom he met at a church pageant a year earlier. Both labelled as “emotionally disturbed,” the two find solace with one another, bond immediately, and live off the land in the Rhode Island woods during the summer of 1965.

See Moonrise Kingdom, because “even 12 year olds put their fingers in the light sockets every once in a while.”
