American filmmaker Joel Schumacher and Italian film director Citto Maselli will receive the lifetime's achievement "Ischia Global Award - In memory of Luchino Visconti'. The awarding ceremony of the two filmmakers - who had a special artistic and personal relationship with the Italian master - will take place during the "7° Global Film & Music Fest" (from July 12 to 19) at Villa La Colombaia, the famous Visconti's villa at Forio d'Ischia, that will re-open after important restoration works. New Yorker Schumacher (‘Falling Down", "The Client", "8MM", "Telephone booth", "The Fanthom of the Opera"), who will be 70 in August,  is considered as one of the leading contemporaries filmmaker and at Ischia Global he will discuss his upcoming project,  "Twelve" starring Keifer Sutherland, Ellen Barkin and the rapper 50 Cent.

Maselli, assistant director and friend of Visconti, will celebrate 60 years of filmmaking at Ischia Global: among his main films, there are masterpieces such as ‘Gli sbandati', ‘Gli indifferenti', ‘Il sospetto'  just to name a few, that gave him a great recognition all over Europe. His next film is the highly anticipated ‘Il fuoco e la cenere', dealing with the political crisis of the Left, an ensemble film featuring Roberto Herlitzka, Ennio Fantastichini, Valentina Carnelutti, Luca Lionello Arnoldo Foà.

In addition to honoring the leading contemporaries filmmakers, Ischia Global 2009 will be focused on young would-be artists and their training: among the several initiatives taking place at Ischia Global, the 'Movie Educational Seminar' with knock-out teachers such as actors Christian Slater, Angela Bassett and Franco Nero and directors like Paul Haggis, Bille August, Mike Figgis and Lina Wertmuller. Screenwriting enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet authors such as Bobby Moresco, Michael Radford and Valerio Massimo Manfredi whereas the secrets and the strategies of film business will be disclosed to "budding producers" by the great players such as Mark Canton, Avi Lerner, Mike Nozik and Italian dean Fulvio Lucisano. This innovative project is the result of the cooperation between Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia and the Universities degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa in Naples and La Sapienza in Rome.

The 7° edition of Ischia Global (http://www.ischiaglobal.com/) is co-produced by Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia in association with Azienda Cura, Soggiorno e Turismo "Isole di Ischia e Procida" and the support of the Department of Tourism and Culture  of the Campania Region and the Film Department of the Ministry of Culture.
