Cinema de la Plage - an escape from all the movement

There are many great things about the Cannes Film Festival: the movies, the premieres, the celebrities, the parties etc. However there's one part of the festival that doesn't get as much attention as it should (even though that's most likely a good thing). It's called Cinema de la Plage, meaning Cinema of the Beach. On the Croisette, amongst Cannes' busy nightlife, is a spot where those who would like to get away from the bustling crowds can relax and watch a movie on the beach. The set up consists of a huge projection screen displayed in front of the ocean, where the audience can cuddle up on a blanket in the sand or on the comfy chairs outside. There is one movie shown every night of the festival at 8:30pm, as long as wheather permits.

The following is the Cinema de la Plage schedule for the rest of the week:

Monday, May 19
Electro Soundtracks FRANÇOIS-EUDES CHANFRAULT / SCRATCH MASSIVE LIVE featuring ZOÉ CASSAVETES
I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG by Mervyn Leroy, 1932

Tuesday, May 20
World Music Soundtracks CAMILLE BAZBAZ SOLO
WHAT'S UP DOC? by Peter Bogdanovich, 1972

Wednesday, May 21
World Music Soundtracks TCHEKY KARYO
BLAZING SADDLES de Mel Brooks, 1974

Thursday, May 22
Psychedelic Soundtracks, tribute to Angelo Badalamenti - TWIN PEAKS - Part 1
DIRTY HARRY de Don Siegel, 1971

Friday, May 23
Psychedelic Soundtracks, tribute to David Lynch - TWIN PEAKS - Part 2
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? De Robert Aldrich, 1962

Saturday, May 24
Rock Music and the Movies LE CERCLE (RICHARD KOLINKA) Invite RAPHAËL + guests
MATRIX d'Andy & Larry Wachowski, 1999

Hi, I will be in Nice by May

Hi,

I will be in Nice by May 25 to 27, and I plan to go to Cannes (a short ride away, I hear) to catch a movie in Cinema de la Plage. Will there still be film showings AFTER May 24?

Thanks!

Ingrid
