5 famous horse racing movies

Creating a list of the best of anything is never easy. People can have vastly different opinions on this matter and it is very difficult to get a large number of people's agreement on this. However, we tried to come up with a list of movies below that are generally regarded as the best horse racing movies.

1- Black Beauty

This film recounts the journey of 'Black Beauty who goes through the hardships of life but ultimately secures a happy retirement in the country. The film is emotionally harrowing, so you are better advised to keep a box of tissues with you.

It is based on the novel of the same name that was written by English author Anna Sewell in the last years of her life. The novel became an immediate best-seller and sold millions of copies. Through this book, the author wanted to raise awareness about animal welfare.

There have been 5 film versions of the book so far. The 1994 film version featured Sean Bean, Andrew Knott and David Thewlis with Alan Cumming as the voice of the horse. It was directed by Caroline Thompson.

2- Let It Ride

This light comedy film is based on the novel 'Good Vibes' by Jay Cronley. The movie stars amazing actors like Richard Dreyfuss, Jennifer Tilly, and Teri Garr, and is centered on a habitual gambler called Jay Trotter.

Jay is a cab driver who receives a very important horse racing tip from his fellow cab driver Looney. Jay goes to place a $50 bet and wins $781. This encourages him to keep on betting, and to his surprise, he continues winning. His gambling enrages his wife Pam, so he gambles all his winnings to prove to her that he knows what he's doing.

The movie touches on the role of luck in the success of horse race betting. However, punters shouldn't take the meaning that only luck plays a part in gambling success. In fact, the more you put your efforts and energy into betting, the more you are likely to garner betting successes. That's why following betting tips and updates can be very crucial if you are wagering on horse racing.

Nowadays, the live horse racing streaming is the trend where punters get to bet as the racing event unfolds before their eyes. This is becoming extremely popular, and that's why all the reputed bookmakers such as Coral, William Hill, Betfair, and Paddy Power are giving this offer.

You can find all the offers and promotions of these betting sites at freebets.uk, the one stop shop for the horse race betting. All the important races of the UK and Ireland can be availed at this site. Here, you can enjoy live horse betting on the Grand National, Epsom Derby, Queen Mother Champion Chase, Cheltenham Gold Cup, and Kentucky Derby, etc. Additionally, you can receive all the best betting tips and updates to help you with your betting.

3- National Velvet

The 1944 National Velvet film is based on the novel of the same name written by Enid Bagnold in 1935. Directed by Clarence Brown, the film starred Elizabeth Taylor, Mickey Rooney, and Donald Crisp as the main cast. This film is a must-see for all those who dream of equestrian success.

The story revolves around a 12-year old Velvet Brown whose dream is to win the Grand National on her horse named The Pie. In this venture, she is helped by a young drifter called Mi. Her dream is big but her challenges are bigger, so how she overcomes all these on her journey to horse-racing success make it a very good movie to watch.

4- War Horse

The novel based film War Horse became a box office hit when it was released in 2011. Jeremy Irvine and Emily Watson were the main cast while the film was directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg.

The film tells the story of a British-bred horse named 'Joey' who is raised by a teenager called Albert. The British army buys him and this way Joey gets thrust into a middle of a war. Albert is determined to reunite with his horse and so follows him to France. There are countless problems in the way of a happy ending for both the owner and the horse, but you won't be disappointed if you get to the end of the movie.

5- Seabiscuit
