Beyond Borders

The 7^th Beyond Borders International Documentary Festival, Castellorizo island will run August 22-29.

The International Documentary Festival of Castellorizo, Beyond Borders for the 7^th year continues its collaboration with highly respected institutions which contribute to the evolution and promotion of documentaries and culture around the world.

The 7th edition of the International Festival, which will take place between   21-28 August 2022, has been placed once again under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The Porter institute for Poetics and Semiotics, Tel Aviv University will be this year’s Academic Partner of Honour. The Institute of Documentary Film (Prague), the Universities of London, Istanbul, York and Thessaloniki were among the Academic Institutions honoured during previous editions of the festival.

The German Public Documentary TV Channel PHOENIX will be the annual Media Partner of Honour. Previous Media Partners include BBC, RAI, ERT, Ecrans des Mondes, Hellenic Parliament Television Channel, et al.

 Beyond Borders International Documentary Festival is rooted on the idyllic island of Castellorizo on the edge of the Aegean Sea, a place of breath-taking natural beauty and huge historical heritage.

 Beyond Borders Festival offers European, Mediterranean and overseas audiences once a year, a collection of compelling films dealing with historical, cross-cultural events, trends and personalities that have shaped our countries, peoples and civilizations. The objective of this "boutique" documentary festival is to celebrate the excellence in cinematographic storytelling centered on History and Society. Beyond Borders is about History now and before, here and everywhere.

Beyond Borders will be held under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The Festival is organized by the Hellenic History Foundation, in co-organization with Ecrans des Mondes (Paris) and is sponsored and/or endorsed by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Interior, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic Parliament, the Municipality of Megisti, the Embassy of Australia in Athens, the U.S. Embassy in Athens, the Embassy of Spain in Athens, the Czech Centre, EKOME, the Greek Film Center and ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation).
