Robin Jonas joins Voltage Pictures as new Production Executive

Voltage Pictures has appointed industry heavyweight Robin Jonas as Production Executive and Producer with immediate effect, it was announced today by President and COO Jonathan Deckter. Jonas joins Voltage at a dynamic time for the company whose production slate includes the action-drama Ava starring Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell, John Malkovich and Geena Davis and After We Collided, the upcoming sequel of one of the highest grossing independent film of 2019, After.

Jonas is a multi-faceted senior entertainment and media executive and 25-year veteran of the business. She was an executive consultant for The Weinstein Company where she worked on The King's Speech, The Artist, The Intouchables and Django Unchained. She was also a consultant on Open Road’s Academy Award-winning feature Spotlight and a producer on Lionsgate’s Golden Globe-nominated series Graves. She oversaw the marketing for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events for Paramount and production for Neil Young’s Heart of Gold for Paramount Vantage.

Prior to her decorated consulting career, she was the President of Kevin Costner’s multi-million dollar Tig Productions with responsibilities including development, production, film finance and marketing, as well as setting up the television and online/multiplatform content departments. While there she developed and produced films such as Mr. Brooks, Swing Vote and the upcoming Explorer’s Guild. Additionally, Jonas partnered with Costner to set up a Tig subsidiary, Treehouse Films, in 2008.

Before transitioning into production, Jonas was the Executive Vice President of Publicity for Miramax and Dimension Films where she oversaw the release and award campaigns for many of the companies’ most critical and commercial successes including The English Patient, Shakespeare In Love, Bridget Jones' Diary, Gangs of New York, Chicago, Serendipity and Frida.

“We’re thrilled to have someone of Robin’s caliber join the Voltage team,” said Deckter. “Robin brings with her a wealth of experience working on some of the most celebrated films of the last 20 years. In addition to having great taste, she has been the driving force behind many successful publicity and marketing campaigns, which informs her strategic approach to producing highly commercial films.”

“I am thrilled to be joining a passionate and dynamic team at Voltage, led by Nic Chartier and Jonathan Deckter,” added Jonas. “They have continually championed female filmmakers and are dedicated to furthering cultural and gender equality in the industry. I look forward to building upon Nic’s vision of bringing distinct, elevated stories to an international audience.”

Voltage Pictures, established in 2005, is a privately held, film and television production, financing and sales entity. Voltage has won six Academy Awards including Best Picture for The Hurt Locker, and three Academy Awards for Dallas Buyers Club.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile starring Zac Efron, Lily Collins, Kaya Scodelario, Jim Parsons, and John Malkovich premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to great acclaim.

After based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Anna Todd, debuted number one at the box office in 17 international territories including Germany and Italy when released in April 2019 and is currently the highest grossing independent film of the year. Voltage was a co-financier and sales agent for the acclaimed Wind River, from Taylor Sheridan in his directorial debut, starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, which premiered to rave reviews at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival which took over $44 million in worldwide box office. Chartier and Deckter were executive producers on the project.

Recent titles on the Voltage sales slate include the Toronto International Film Festival FIPRESCI Prize winner Skin from the Academy Award-winning director, Guy Nattiv, and starring Jamie Bell, Danielle Macdonald, and Vera Farmiga. The film was also an official selection in the Panorama section at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival and was released in the US by A24. The short on which the film is based won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. All Eyez on Me from director Benny Bloom and starring Demetrius Shipp Jr., Danai Gurira and Kat Graham took $53 million in worldwide box office.
