Wartime film production and distributOn February 20, in Berlin, about a hundred participants from Ukraine and Canada joined a discussion on film production and distribution during the war as part of a round table organized by the #ucancoproduce initiative, which aims to put into practice the Audiovisual Co-Production Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Canada. which was ratified in 2020. During the event, Victoria Yarmoshchuk (FILM.UA Group, Ukrainian Film Association) presented the results of the work and achievements of the Ukrainian media business during the war, the services that Ukraine can provide at the moment, as well as the industry's plans for the future. Summing up the results of the production and distribution of Ukrainian content in 2022, Polina Tolmacheva (Council for State Support of Cinematography) spoke about the unique cases of distribution during the war and why it is important. From Canada, Julie Blondin (Telefilm Canada) presented new opportunities, ways and features of cooperation with both countries in 2023, and producer Tommy Lupinacci (VORTEX Media) shared his experience of working on a joint project between Ukraine and Canada – The Betrayers. Also, within the Conference, Ukrainian producers presented three projects that are looking for partners. Anastasia Bukovska and Tonya Noyabrova presented the comedy film "Ukraine is the capital of everything", Olesya Lukyanenko presented the full-length drama film "We Come From Here", and Ivanna Khitsinska presented the documentary project "Queens of Joy". The event was moderated by Louise O'Brien-Moran (Manitoba Film and Music). The results of the first two #ucancoproduce conferences can be found on the website.
